Hindi Dictionary + App Reviews

At least once a day I get to remember some Hindi because I have it set to notify me of the word if the day. Nice, it has some Sanskrit rooted words as well as some Urdu and Farsi, even English words rooted words in the vocabulary.

Thorough list of available vocabulary, great reminders with the word of the day feature.

Very useful for English to Hindi translation. I would have given 5* if it would have pronounced the Hindi words.

I really like this dictionary. It is easy to use and gives simple definitions with Hindi script and romanization. Great tool.

I use this app just about everyday. I love having it. I just wish it was a little more exhaustive.

Love this app! Ideal for reference for spelling. I use it all the time. Wish the verb search was better, and that there were genders for nouns...but great for fast reference !

Rather useless app for two reasons. The first, it keeps crashing. The second, it has a very small database of definitions, which are frequently inaccurate.

****DO NOT GET THE APP!!!!**** Worst application ever. The words are not even correct most of the times. Every single extra feature has an extra cost and doesnt even work when you have no Internet! Piece of junk. If apple had let me, I would have given half a star or less... Really Im not kidding.

And yet the execution is severely lacking with ability to use pronunciations absent purchases.

Confusing. It says dictionary both ways but I never found where I could get the English definition of Hindi words. Multiple lines provided in Hindi with only one romanized. Multiple words that mean the same thing...I guess? This was definitely not designed with the beginner Hindi learner in mind. The Multiple choice game I managed 70% merely from part of speech clue. But youre not guessing car, ball, apple. "Superannuate"?! Not Something I ever expect to need to know. The guessing game seemed confusing with grey text supposedly giving the answer, but it was wrong the first time. That one is more like Wheel of Fortune than learning any Hindi from it. Maybe its a good app, but as a newbie to Hindi Im definitely not the audience for it.

I like this app but I would love it if the Hindi words were up to date, a lot of the words are old Hindi and not hindi being used today. It would be even better if both new and old Hindi was given so that one could learn more.
